It (2017)
As though we werenโt already scared of clowns.
Presentation:
Stephen King makes us all share his dread for clowns with also a great story. A band of teenagers fighting evil is great. The cast is well chosen, scares are fresh and imaginative, itโs just a very fun horror film. What really takes it to the next level is Bill Skarsgard, whom is utterly convincing of pure evil. He truly can be an icon of horror if he keeps up his performance like in Nosferatu.
Conclusion:
Like a carnival, come for the scares but stay for the story, this is what makes for a great modern horror film. The clown is creepy thanks to a brilliant performance by Skarsgard and the cast is very charismatic. Sets and modern effects satisfy the childlike imaginative fantasy and itโs a Stephen King film so there are meaningful themes sprinkled in to allow you take something with you after you watched the film. If horror movies are roller coasters, this one similarly loops around to dazzles or disorient you.
