Paths of Glory (1957)

We can’t all be Leeroy Jenkins.

Summary:

Kubrick’s more serious anti-war film. Lots of dialogue in this film with the exception of notable tracking shots for its war scene. It’s just okay cinematography-wise. There’s nothing wrong with this film at all nor is there anything particularly profound. We all know war is terrible and the promotional aspect of the ranks, but with mostly dialogue, there’s nothing that should wow you in visuals nor ideas. I’ve watched this film twice now. It’s got that old cinema style of over-explaining, declarative storytelling and group front facing conversations. A fine film and one you would not regret watching, but just that, more of a play than a film.
