When Martin Scorsese strays from the gangster genre, there's good reason.

Presentation:

The film is hyper stylized with very evocative frames that should test the time with some of the most emotionally charged visuals. I believe this film has everything you want from a film experience as well as an emotional response with one of the most haunting credit rolls assisted by Dinah Washington's This Bitter Earth.

Story:

The film isn't perfect with somewhat schizophrenic pacing that you might see from Perfect Blue, but that's what makes this film so unique. Based on the book, the ending is a little less ambiguous which could be seen as the biggest fault to this film. But it is perhaps necessary to accomplish some of the powerful bloody scenes with Michelle Williams. Truly an incredible psychological experience.

Conclusion:

There’s not much I can say about this film that wouldn’t spoil something. Just enjoy your first watch. One of the craziest conspiracy films of all time that is still being talked about today.
