The Parallax View (1974)
Political assassination is never what it seems…
Summary:
For those that love conspiracy theories, this is one of the more obscure films whose tone might perfectly suit the demographic. The image quality is unsaturated and dull to the point that it was unenjoyable to watch. There are moments of interesting composition and cinematography, but overall I ended up skipping through parts because it was just that visually unappealing. I really liked the disturbing subliminal sections and second half of the film, but because the lead has barely any charisma it’s hard to care about the conspiracy even when it does get intriguing. The suspense does build and reach a satisfying climax, which is the only reason stopping me from giving this a 2. A reminder how political assassination is never as it seems…
