Good Will Hunting (1997)
Wicked smaht.
Presentation:
The successful trio from Boston show once again that if you want to make it in the film industry, all you need is a script and the will. Actually a lot of famous directors and actors have started this way when you think about it. The drama they've written is actually well devised despite being self-aggrandizing, but not in the most pretentious way as characters still feel very much grounded with serious flaws. This story has a lot of heart, colloquial banter and touching relationship dynamics. This was very influential on me as a child with raw convincing performances.
Conclusion:
This is my pick for one of the best dramas, but I feel will not speak to some as much as Chili found it unimpressive. But for those that have ever felt society has turned their back on you, this might be a very satisfying film.
