Her (2013)
A man dumps his wife for AI.
Presentation:
Joaquin Phoenix is unrecognizable in a convincing portrayal of a man that would fall in love with AI. The film has soft nostalgic cinematography from Hoytema mostly succeeding in romanticizing and humanizing AI by Scarlett Johansson.
Conclusion:
I mean, something like this happening in real life isn’t too far off, is it? Or perhaps it has already happened. Another interesting romance that perhaps will become more relevant as technology develops. The film lacks a little bit of depth from stronger films depicting world-weary men. As Joaquin's character isn't fully fleshed out, I personally couldn't sympathize with all his choices, which is unclear whether that is the fault of the film or me.
