The Sixth Sense (1999)

Presentation:
M. Night Shyamalan’s greatest contribution to cinema and probably the only reason his movies still have any credibility. It was times like this when movies could gloss over details and revolve an entire movie off of a single idea because if you know the twist then the whole experience is kaput. So if you don’t know what happens, then this will probably the best flick Shyamalan has to offer.
Conclusion:
Although the film relies on a twist, it’s a brilliantly executed one that makes for an experience you’d want to tell all your friends about. Unfortunately in 2024 you can’t really do that for an old film especially when they can be spoiled in a 15 second social media post. Not a fault of the director, but a problem with how we consume media that has ruined the cinematic experience. M. Night Shyamalan might be a simple director, but he is definitely one of first filmmakers you associate the suspense genre with.
