Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)

The beauty of Wuxia martial arts.

Summary:

My favorite Chinese film is a 2000 martial arts drama. What makes this stand out from other Kung Fu films is the beautiful cinematography and choreography. I think it has one of the best fight choreographies of all time, feeling more like dance than combat. Beautifully executed with gorgeous scenery, those flying fight scenes are hyper-stylized capturing the etherealness of ancient Chinese Wuxia. At the core of it all, a poetic romance that holds everything together. The number one recommendation for a true Chinese movie in Chinese culture and style. For me, it’s the best Chinese film of all time, legendary in every sense of the sword.
