Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025)
Death still has a sense of humor.
Presentation:
If you arenโt familiar with the Final Destination series, it is essentially reduces to a Rube Goldberg death machine. The premonition splatter formula remains the same in this film with a recurring character, familiar themes and fan service references. Itโs friendly to new audiences by explaining the mechanics again, which might be a bore for long time fans. The film starts off weak but improves toward the middle. The CGI is quite awful for the first scene but goes back to physical and practical effects thereafter. Lots of dutch angles and even a pretty cool dutch angle dolly zoom. With these types of splatter horror, the execution of deaths is the most important, acknowledging its entertainment factor akin to Mortal Kombat games. I would say some deaths have moments of cleverness and wit, though none as iconic as the tanning bed. That being said, I really liked the goth guy and all his scenes.
Conclusion:
This is probably the funniest film in the series due to its meta commentary, similar to the recent Scream film. Considering this is the sixth sequel, itโs quite surprising that they still are able to conjure up fresh ideas to make this film worthwhile. Itโs still the same pointless, silly slop but this manages to be fresh enough and maybe one of the best in the series on par with Final Destination 2. Splatter never dies!
