Presentation:
I’m not sure why I bothered to watch this film, but it was probably because of a clip I saw online with Maika Monroe. If you’re expecting something cinematic like Longlegs don’t bother because this is not that. This is a generic mystery thriller that is barely passable as a horror. The presentation throughout the entire film is basically something creepy happens and then they immediately chat about what just happened, then rinse and repeat. The film is very modern looking with really shallow depth of field. At least Monroe looks pretty especially when she’s wearing red, but honestly the plot is equally shallow so you would miss nothing watching at 2x speed or a movie recap.
Conclusion:
I almost liked this movie for its ending but it was really not worth the time. I don’t think I learned anything from this film and it was totally not scary at all. The best part of this film is Maika Monroe as she has a killer side eye and a very cool look for horror.
