Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
“I’ll love you forever” is a long time…when you’re a vampire.
Presentation:
Tom Hiddelston and Tilda Swinton play reunited depressed lovers spanning supernatural centuries, which become disrupted by an uncontrollable younger sister. This premise alone should give a pretty good idea of whether you will like this film. Supernatural elements and love with some conflict, this formula won't go wrong for this dark and gothic drama. This is probably my favorite film from Jarmusch.
Conclusion:
As I am biased toward dark films especially gothic ones, this is a film that is hard to forget years after. It's a bit edgy for some and possible pretentiously hipster, but that's what I love about it. Vampires, shades, rock n roll!
