Bird Box (2018)
Keep your eyes open for this fresh horror premise.
Presentation:
This film may draw similarities to A Quiet Place as they both deal with a malicious entity while not being able to utilize a key sense. This film is superior as sight is naturally the most terrifying sense to lose. In this film, you feel every ounce of uncertainty and trepidation the actors do when not being able to confront the entity by looking at them. But itโs more than a typical monster film as we also have an intricate obstacles to keep the threats fresh. Sandra Bullock is also disarmingly charismatic in this role and John Malkovich is always a pleasure to watch as his cynical typecast.
Conclusion:
A fine script, well paced with interesting ups and downs. One of Chiliโs favorite films, this should also be enjoyable for audiences looking for great female leads. The sequel to this film is a waste of time, but this is a fresh revitalization on what had been a very stale and formulaic monster genre. It may not be revolutionary, but is executed well enough that should make this an enjoyable experience.
