Nobody (2021)

Better call John Wick?

Presentation:

If John Wick was a middle aged family man, this is what he’d look like. Bob Odenkirk from The Breaking Bad comes out of left field and stars in an action film, which is really something to behold. It’s just not what you’d expect and I’m not sure if he pulls it off but it’s still a pretty fun popcorn movie that gives us an alternative to your typical spy gun fu flick. It’s like they saw the success of John Wick and tried to plagiarize it but during the copy paste they just reshuffled a few things around and changed a few words here or there.

Conclusion:

John Wick is still better, the universe here simply isn’t as developed nor are the action sequences or choreography. It relies on craftiness for its action to deliver the dopamine but it simply doesn’t reach the same highs when it’s delivered in such an unsexy package. But there the whole point, and if this subversion of expectations is all it takes for you to enjoy a film, well it’s certainly on the fresh side of the slop train.
