127 Hours (2010)

Claustrophobic immersion.

Presentation:

Danny Boyle and James Franco deliver an impressive documentary style movie that feels very real. For a film that entirely relies on a single actor, the film utilizes smart flashbacks and camera work to make the excruciating journey a bit more exciting. Lots of found footage, camcorder styles, sound design mixed in for what really feels like 127 hours. It’s cool how they implement sound as opposed to visuals to portray his condition.

Conclusion:

As far as documentary style films go, this one is quite good. It's one of a kind, though for those that want a bit more dramatization, I might suggest similar films like Buried with Ryan Reynolds or Phone Booth. Above average and definitely excruciating.
