For a Few Dollars More (1956)

The archetypal western.

Presentation:

When you imagine a western, this film is what should come to mind when you stereotype all the tropes and traditional characteristics. This western from Sergio Leone is less epic than The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, but more fun. Leone always said westerns were like amusement parks and were not supposed to be so serious. If you agree, then this could be the best western of all time. The cinematography is still good, just not as impressive as his others. As a result we can focus on the story and characters, whom are all delightful especially Clint Eastwood and the sinister Van Cleef.

Conclusion:

This may be my favorite western simply for its thrills and characters. The music from Ennio Morricone is iconic and becomes a character in the story. Itโ€™s just a perfect cinematic experience and indulges in very entertaining dialogues and sequences. A guaranteed good time, and definitely bring some popcorn.
