Presentation:
A boy sues his parents for giving him life…and you'll likely side with the pitiful boy. One of the most compelling narratives that blends drama with reality, presenting a most unkind world taking place in Lebanon. If you can't stomach child brutality and negligence, be warned. Nothing is melodramatic about this film leaving an unfiltered powerful punch to the gut. This is one of those films that can single handedly take an unknown director into the cinematic hall of fame.
Conclusion:
I don’t think poverty has been depicted quite as movingly as it has in this film. The film reveals the darkest of humanity in an un-sugarcoated way. What makes the impact even more brutal is that the actors are real refugees and victims. It's quite an eye-opening experience that should make you re-evaluate how lucky it is to be born in privileged parts of the world. Lamentably for millions of others, tragedy is all they've ever known.
