Coen Brother’s earlier work with humor similar to The Big Lebowski, except with a better story. Some scenes could have your sides splitting with Coen Brother’s signature serious yet dark humor. Deakin’s cinematography isn’t particularly memorable here, allowing us to focus more on the story and vibrant cast of incompetent henchmen and silliness.
Conclusion:
One of Coen Brother’s most well known films, this is in some ways in a league of its own due to impeccable execution balancing comedic and tragic tone. There are few films that can match the vision of this comedy and even those that get close won’t have the same charm. Brilliant writing and deadly witty. A funny police procedural for the ages, ay?
